It's a new year!! A lot of curriculum changes happened over the summer for the Family and Consumer Sciences course so we have some new and exciting opportunities for our students.
One of the big adjustments has been to highlight the STEM concepts taught in FCS courses. In Food and Nutrition Sciences I we discuss procedures for keeping food safe to consume and how food borne illnesses are not beneficial for ones body. To help emphasis the importance of washing ones hands we took samples from the hall pass, the water fountain, the vending machine, tables, lunch keyboards, phones, stair rails, and other surfaces around school that students regularly touch. The picture here doesn't do it justice. Nasty stuff. I am hoping students are as grossed out as I am. Yuck.
To help ease the burden of taking notes students make cheese-balls to snack on. Yum! Fast and easy!!
