Apple Crisp and Homemade Ice Cream

The Foods classes today made Apple Crisp and Homemade Ice Cream. The ice cream is a lot of work (shake, shake, shake) so most of the groups ended up drinking theirs, but they said it still tasted good. Several groups gave me samples of their apple crisp (I think I ate about a batch all by myself) and I can say... it was good!!

Color Coding

In Fashion on Friday, the student color coded themselves. It was fun to see and hear the different opinions about certain colors on each of the girls. They did a great job.

Imagination

In FACS I had students draw a picture of an imaginary creature. Then they had to partner up and describe their creature to their partner so their partner could try to draw the origional creature. Here is an example of what was turned out. This partnership did a really good job- their pictures turned out fairly close.
The objective was to consider that children learn differently than adults, so sometimes we need to adjust our language into terms that children will understand.

Pre-school

Pre-school time has come for the FACS classes. It was fun to see the students go around to the various stations. There was a reading station...
A science station...
A puzzle (to practice small motor skills) station...

A snack station...

And a few other stations. I think the students had a good time "being a kid" again. :-)

Babies

Today in Teen Living, babies were born! The babies are bags filled with rock salt- rock salt is easier to clean up if baby gets abused than flour is. The babies weigh anywhere from 5 1/2 lbs to 12 lbs. The student in the pic below just learned she was having twins! Ya for her!
Here she is with "Dr. Bench" and her special, new, little ones.Once all the babies were delivered, students had the rest of the hour to dress their babies. It was fun to see some of the items students brought to dress their children in. Good luck guys! At least rock salt doesn't cry. :-)

Duffle Bags

The first duffel bag has been completed- they aren't due until Tuesday, but this student finished early. And it looked great! As I walk around and look at the progress of the other students, I am impressed. Great job students!

Fashion Strip Mall

In Fashion, the students made a little strip mall to help learn about the different store types. They all turned out soooo cool! I would shop there!
