Today at school I had a former student (from my 1st year of teaching), April (Brooksby) Nielsen, come guest speak in my Foods class. It was so much fun to see her again! When I told my students that we were going to have a guest speaker on home canning instead of doing a lab they were kind of whiny and not very excited. Then April showed up! She had the students helping can a few things and helping to prepare the meal she served.She did an awesome job and she fed the students applesauce, burritos (with lemon rice and re fried beans plus cilantro/lime dressing) and cake- they LOVED it! Plus they learned how to do some home canning!
