Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo

Today the Foods classes FINALLY made Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. They have been waiting to do this for a couple days now, and they FINALLY got to make it! They loved it and really enjoyed it! So much better when it's homemade! And it smelled good too! Mr. Stevenson's mouth was watering!

Great Job today guys!!!

We hope you have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Cookie Lab

Yesterday, the FACS Classes had a cookie lab. They made one of 2 cookies (Snickerdoodle and Chocolate Chip) and they got to have a taste of the other kind of cookie. Students loved the cookies and had a really fun time making them. In 4th period, we had a little learning experience. We had to use butter instead of shortening and it was amazing to see how much more flour they needed just by using butter! Some of the cookies turned out really flat and sticky. But, they are still good! Good job guys!

Thunder Lab

Today in FACS, the students got to make Thunder Twists (Pretzels) and Thunder Juice (Smoothies). Today was a learning day for the students. They learned how to work together and get things done. 4th period finished with about 5 minutes to spare! The students loved the food and had a lot of fun cooking today. Here are some pictures!

Good Job Guys!!!
(Also...my FACS classes are currently the world's best cleaners. My room looks awesome...way to go 8th graders. Show those 9th graders how to do it!)

Chocolate Goop

In FACS Exploration, we have started our cooking units! Students finished their aprons, and they turned out great!

On Friday, Nov. 11, the students got to go into the lab and cook for the first time! They were given a No-Bake Cookie recipe, that wasn't extremely clear. They had to decipher what certain words meant and the various amounts that it could mean, and in the end I only had a few groups turn out even remotely close to what they should look like. We talked about why measuring is important and that we have a standardized system so that it is the same wherever you are. Students loved cooking, but didn't like that their product turned out like goop...

Great Job Guys!
More Cooking to Come!!!
