Eggs Benedict

Today in Foods we made Eggs Benedict, with Hollandaise sauce... from scratch!! My students are so cool! And they rocked it!! Here is one that was made for me...
 Occasionally we find eggs that have blood in them. Today was one of those days...
 Can everyone say, "EGGS BENEDICT!"

Stir Fry

ATTENTION PARENTS!! Your students made the BEST stir fry in class today!! You NEED them to make it for you! Soooooo good!! And from scratch too!!

Butter

This is a post I forgot to do, but it was cool so I am posting late. The Foods classes made butter!! Here are a couple of shots...

Cupcakes

We started the fats unit today. So we made a "normal" cupcake (right) and a low fat cupcake (left). To make a low-fat cupcake we used applesauce in place of the oil and we substituted egg whites for the egg yolks. Most students preferred the low fat cupcakes.

Simple Carbs vs Complex Carbs

In Foods we did an experiment identifying if certain foods are simple carbohydrates or if they are complex carbohydrates. Here are a couple of shots...



Breads

In Foods we have been learning about yeast breads and quick breads. Here are a couple of the labs we have done practicing the concepts:

This group saved some of their chocolate chips to sprinkle on top of their muffins...


 Here are some Italian Cheese Bread sticks... this group didn't follow the directions, but the still turned out yummy.
