Eggs Benedict Arnold!

Every time I said Eggs Benedict in one of my classes, they would add Arnold and then start talking about Hey Arnold...it was quite hilarious!

Today, in Foods, we made Eggs Benedict. For most of the students, this was their first time poaching an egg, making hollandaise sauce, and trying this new idea. From what I heard, most of them will make it when they get home! It is a yummy, (but SUPER fattening) recipe that the students ended up loving, even though they didn't think they would.

Apparently, this student didn't like it as much...
He just hadn't tried it yet.

Good Job Guys!

Fashion Designs

These students are so much more creative than I ever could be. Just look at these designs!

This one is amazing! (And it's all painted)

That wasn't even all of my favorites, but I didn't want to overload the post. I'm so proud of my students and the work they did on this project! It was a lot!

Do You Know the Muffin Man?

Well, if you don't, I'm sure your student could tell you they can make them just as good as he can! On October 3, the students in the Foods 1 Class made muffins, and boy were they tasty! Here are some pictures! (I'm sorry about the quality...I forgot my camera that day, but lucky enough had my iPod!)

The spread. We had Pumpkin Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Apple Streusel, Lemon Strawberry Streusel, Raspberry Pecan Streusel, Orange Cranberry, and Maui Muffins. They were so good!

These were the pumpkin apple streusel muffins. When the groups first got this one, they weren't so happy, but then after making them realized they were delicious. Can't beat Pumpkin in a muffin!

Mock Preschool

On Sept. 28th (forever ago) the FACS Exploration students got to go to preschool! They did activities that challenged them as 8th graders, which was the whole concept of the child development unit. We wanted students to understand that when you take care of a child, the activities need to be at their level. The students had a really fun time and really enjoyed the activities.

The math group. They were thrilled with this as you can see :)
They rolled two dice to try and add up to 100, but if they rolled ones, there were different consequences that happened.

This is the Small Motor Group. They were to put together a puzzle with their eyes closed! I was surprised at how good they got at it!

This is the science group. They had Whole Milk and food coloring. They dipped a toothpick in "magic juice" (soap) and watched what happened.

This was the Art group. They were to write letters to their friends, but without using any words. It was really hard for them!

Pretty sure this was the kids' favorite-the snack group. They got to make faces out of bread, peanut butter, twizzlers, chocolate chips and coconut.

And last but not least, the reading group. They sat for 8 minutes and read children's books.

I'd say that's a pretty fun day in school! Wish I had it that easy! ;)

Holy Update Batman!

I'm am such a slacker! I can't believe I haven't been updating this, especially since we've been having SO much fun in class! The next few postings are from the last couple of weeks. We have begun a new quarter, and most of the students did fairly well last quarter. I'm excited to spend a little bit more time with the students. I don't know what it is going to be like when I leave! (I'll be REALLY sad)
